He’s the real deal! Sailor is a Haflinger Quarter horse cross gelding standing at 14.3 hands tall and 4 years old. He has a lot of training and experience already under his cinch. He has started driving, but we mostly just ride Sailor. He is also trained to lie down for mounting or dismounting. Sailor has a ready-to-please, willing attitude; you can’t go wrong with him. He rides great out on the trails and looks good doing it. ... ( read more ) I just love his coloring; he almost looks like a golden palomino with that flaxen mane and tail. And I love the flaxen feathering on his legs; he looks like he has four white stockings. And that cute little star on his forehead with the curious soft eyes. But Sailor is more than just a handsome fella, he is VERY broke and SAFE! He goes anywhere you point him down the trail with NO hesitations and NO fear. He is a blast out on the trail. He’ll step over any size log, and if you want him to, he’ll jump them too! He would make a great prospect for a fox-hunting horse or a jumping horse. He goes into any water and is not afraid to swim a river for you. Steep banks? No problems he just hops right up them. Picks his way down a steep hill carefully. Wildlife doesn’t faze him, and he’s used to a doggy sidekick popping in and out of places and running up full speed behind him. He has excellent manners. He does NOT care a bit about where the other horse is. He will leave home alone, ride away from the group, and can lead or follow. NO bad habits or vices. He gets along with the herd and is in the middle of the pecking order. Easy to catch, friendly, and willing to please. Smart, too, he catches on to new things quickly. He will pony other horses doesn’t mind a rope being thrown off of him. He has also been hobbles trained. Loads in the trailer and hauls great. Not spooky and he’s used to traffic doesn’t mind cars whizzing by him. Sailor has also been started in harness and has been hitched double, so if someone wants to continue that training with him, he already has an idea and has been driven a few times. But lately we’ve mainly been using him as a trail horse. He rides right in between your legs, knows his cues well, and has had arena work, so he’s comfortable being in an arena. Neck reins fine. Stands good for picking up his feet. Very smooth canter and a trot that’s easy to post to. He comes up to date on everything: Vet Check, Coggins, Shots, Wormings, etc. Just call with any questions or to schedule a time to come see him in person.
