Temperament & Management
The All-Rounder
Comfortable in the middle of everything, which is rarer than it sounds. Enough forward to stay honest, enough patience to wait for you. Not a specialist - a generalist. The kind of horse that makes a good program great, or a rough patch survivable.
About this horse
$12,000 USD NEGOTIABLE Disciplines: Barefoot Hoofcare, Cowboy Dressage, Dressage, Horsemanship, Ranch Riding-Ranch Pleasure, Ranch Work, Western Dressage, Working Equitation Meet Pumpkin 🎃 He is a 2018 Morgan gelding who stands a solid 15hh with great bone and substance. He has basic training in the arena, meaning he can walk trot and lope with ease and has some idea of lateral work and turns on the forehand and haunch. He is still a bit chunky and out of shape so holding a consistent frame will take some more time and strength, but i could see him excelling in things like western/cowboy dressage or even working equitation in time. Pumpkin has also spent some time down the trail and I’ve been told he can lead or follow and crosses water and bridges with ease. I have a bridge in my arena that he hopped on with no troubles so while I haven’t personally taken him down the trail, I would say he will cross obstacles just fine 😁 He has great big feet and goes barefoot. He has nice legs but does carry an old scar on his left hind leg. It looks like he probably got caught in a fence at one point. The scar is mainly on the front part of the leg and not where the tendon is. He did pass a PPE when his current owner purchased him and he had the scar at that point. Pumpkin does well living out in a herd or in a stall. He gets along well with others and really wants to be a good kid. But he can be a little “weird”. Not in a naughty or hot way……but he just carries some weird energy. Like he is waiting for something crazy to happen. He can be a little looky and high headed on the ground. But I haven’t found that to be the case once I’m on his back. When riding he seems more settled. Like I said….he doesn’t want to be naughty. But he is just “weird” enough that I would recommend a handler/rider with confidence for him. Someone who will just laugh at him when he puts his head up and has a “squirrel” moment. If the handler gets weird…..I could see him getting even more weird. Pumpkin is located in Herald, CA and is ready to find his person! [contact info removed]
