About this horse

Disciplines: English Pleasure, Performance, Ranch Work, Started Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Western Riding "Checkers" is a tall and beautiful, dark brown registered appendix 4 year old gelding. He was started as a 2 year old and has been ridden consistently last year and this spring, including one month with a barrel horse trainer. He has a great handle on him and is ready to go in any direction. He is really sweet to be around and is quiet on the ground. He has mostly been ridden in the arena, but spent the first two years of his life turned out with a herd of horses on the sagebrush. He crosses live water, gets along with other horses and knows where his feet are. He ties, trims, and loads easily. He is not a finished horse, but could be put right to work on the ranch or continued with ongoing training in the arena. He is showing great promise on the barrels, he just needs more time. He is a strong and powerful horse with a good balance of whoa and go. He isn't spooky at all, but is still learning and would benefit from someone with the skills for a young horse. His registered name is SD Smokem Loper - he has a great mix of speed, agility, and cowhorse in him. He measures 15.2 hands, had his teeth done last year, and is up to date on shots and dewormer.
