The Competitor

Athletic, forward, and mentally steady enough to stay useful under pressure. Has the engine to move up and the brain to stay there - doesn't need babysitting in warm-up or convincing at the gate. Suited to riders who want to climb levels, not just maintain them.

About this horse

At Auction – Sale Date: Mar 14, 2026 Disciplines: Beginner-Safe, Buckskin-Bred, Cross-Country, Family-Safe, Reining-Cowhorse-Cutting, Team Roping, Trail Riding, Western, Wife-Safe, Working Cattle Amigo is a stunning and eloquent 2018 buckskin gelding that catches everyone’s eye, not just because of the way he looks but also by the way he performs and carries himself in and out of the arena. Amigo has been in our program and apart of team Turner for years and the decision to let a horse of his caliber go has been a hard decision for us. No matter what your skill set or level of riding, Amigo is gentle, safe and a great teacher. Oozing confidence and reliability he can sit for months and will ride off flawlessly every time. A proven Money Winning head and heel horse that works with style and class. Amigo has been hauled and seasoned to numerous jackpots, world series roping’s and several rodeos. EASY and fun to ride, he scores perfectly, good behind a barrier, runs hard, rates well, with a great move, and quick face! On the heeling side, his instinct on a cow puts you right where you need to be, to take that winning shot, with an excellent deep stop. From low to high number ropers, he gauges himself accordingly. Patience and Forgiving! Amigo is a prince he is quiet enough for a beginner rider but athletic and trained enough for an advanced rider to go have a blast on. He has a great look and great expression in the arena with a fancy handle he has smooth easy transitions and just glides across the pen. Along with all his talents in the arena he is also amazing on the trails and around the ranch. Mountains of Montana to the deserts of Arizona there isn’t much he hasn’t seen or crossed. Amigo stays quiet, relaxed and always willing to go where you point him no matter if you’re out alone or in a group of riders and other horses. On the ranch he is always there to lend a helping hand, opening and closing gates, branding, sorting, roping, doctoring and curb side mounts from anywhere! Great in the pasture with other horses and loads and trailers great, he is so quiet and content no matter the location. You can ride with a bridle or go bridles with a saddle or without he can go any direction – any place – anytime – anywhere he is versatile and as broke and trained as they come. Amigo will stay safe and has been a life savior when we are in need of a horse when unexpected company shows up and when they get done riding him they always leave the ranch with a smile on their face and memory they will never forget. A Sale Highlight for sure as he has been one of TPH favorite highlights.
