About this horse

Disciplines: HYPP N-N, Mountain Trail, Ranch Work, Trail Riding, Working Cattle Ranger excels as a ranch/trail horse, he is very sure footed gathering in rough country and you can pasture rope off him. He walks out nicely, not a push ride but not hot either. He will rate down with a calf, drag them and stand to pasture doctor. He gets along well with other horses but can also separate and not get buddy sour. He crosses water, ditches, you point him at it he will go. Our 14 yr old daughter has used him as her ranch/trail horse but we have purchased her a step up horse so this guy is now available. He has really good hard feet and has been barefoot the whole time we have had him and done just fine. He neck reins, knows his leads and packs his head. He is used to working with dogs and does not mind them running up behind him or right on his heels. Great to pony colts off of too, doesn’t get frazzled by other horses. Stands tied well, easy to load and haul. He also loves just going for a trail ride, hop on bareback and cruise around. His quirks: He is NOT an arena horse. He does not enjoy the arena or roping in the arena (he is fine to pasture rope as you will see in the video). If you want an arena horse/team roping horse, there are better ones out there. He is not a fan of vehicles behind him. He will turn around and want to look if they come up behind him. This is a really sweet gelding with a lot of try that I want to find the right fit where he will be used doing what he enjoys, being out on the trails and/or doing ranch work. Not for a complete beginner because of his quirks, that being said our kids have been riding him. Our 14 yr old is on him in the first part of the video bareback, she is 5’9. A friend that is 6’4 helped us get the roping/gathering videos. Video link: [contact info removed]
