Temperament & Management
The All-Rounder
Comfortable in the middle of everything, which is rarer than it sounds. Enough forward to stay honest, enough patience to wait for you. Not a specialist - a generalist. The kind of horse that makes a good program great, or a rough patch survivable.
About this horse
Lucero. 15.2h, 2020 registered Andalusian mare. This beautiful girl is sweet, smart, athletic, sensitive and very trainable with an excellent work ethic. Lucero loves people, has respectful ground manners and is always happy to see you. She bathes, clips (ears are a work in progress), loads and hauls, has been ridden out alone. She has a solid basic dressage foundation with walk, trot, canter and all lateral movements at walk and trot. Has learned to open gates, been introduced to tarps and has almost mastered side-pass over poles. Excellent feet, currently barefoot (was shod in front during the driest part of this summer). Easy keeper, gets along well in a herd or alone in turn-out. Because Lucero was started late and is very sensitive, she is not yet a good match for a novice rider, though she will be in good time. Anyone with a quiet hand and seat, or in a consistent program, will certainly enjoy this lovely mare. Sired by the incomparable Cazar, Lucero has the potential to be a top tier Working Equitation competitor, a steady trail horse or, with her excellent bloodlines, would be an outstanding addition to any breeding program.
