About this horse

$5,500 USD FIRM Disciplines: Ranch Riding-Ranch Pleasure, Ranch Sorting, Ranch Trail Class, Ranch Versatility, Ranch Work, Reining-Cowhorse-Cutting, Rodeo, Rodeo Queen, Roping-Rope, Trail Riding Frenchys Pit Viper (barn name "Viper") is just about the cutest foal we have ever seen ! Though he sports a "baby" base color of tan now, he is getting an undercoat of gray. He will almost surely be an unusual "grulla" Appaloosa ! His thick black mane has a very prominent black line down the center of his back and over his butt, transitioning into a glossy black tail. Viper has dark rimmed sclera eyes and 2 striped hooves. His blanket is actually two big white circles - one on each hip with irregular tan "splashes" across each one. He also has a very powerful long sloping hind end and well-developed muscling all over, especially noticeable on his legs, shoulders, gaskins and hips. Viper is a very correctly built and compact fellow, showing advanced muscling for a colt born the last week of June 2025, and running out on grass pasture alone. Viper's dam is a direct descendent of the famous barrel horse producing sire "Frenchmans Guy" and also of the All American Futurity winner "Dash for Cash". His dam also carries performance champions bloodlines back to "Docs Quixote", "Miss N Cash", and "Docs Hickory". His sire line traces back through the Appaloosa horses "Prince Plaudit" and "Joker Bee" Quarter Horse offspring brought into Appaloosa breeding programs to refine their looks and improve their conformations. Viper is actually about 3/4 Quarter horse, and he shows their small wedge shaped head, refined muzzle, little "pin" ears, with a short back over a longer underline, sloping square hips and heavy underslung butt - he has the fabulous conformation so popular on today's champions. This colt is being trained in the round pen. While he shows himself to be quick and catty, he is also very friendly, quiet and happy to oblige his handlers - standing for fly spray, washing, grooming all over, picking up and trimming his feet. Viper's sire is following cattle outside in the pasture, being used to rope calves in the pasture, and he is staying quiet, calm and low headed. We have included a short video of Viper moving around in the round pen for viewing - he can run and maneuver in small spaces easily, turning and pivoting off his hind end, responding to voice commands in gait changes, stopping to be caught on a dime. He is learning to load, unload, haul in the trailer and stand quietly in the trailer, stand tied outside the trailer, and has been "sacked out" with a saddle pad without complaint. This rare beauty with so much appeal is a pleasure to work with, he is sound, unspoiled, and ready to learn. Better get him in your barn now ! As he continues to impress, his price will only go up...He is going to be one Heck of a Fancy Horse !
