About this horse

$500 USD NEGOTIABLE Looking to re-home a light trail riding partner and/or a good friend/companion for a lonely horse. We’re located in Arroyo Grande, near Pismo Beach, and have a gentleman available for your consideration. Reg. Black AQHA, approximately 16.1 hands, 21 years young, handsome, and kind gelding. PRO: Patiently stands for grooming, bathing, saddling, farrier, vet, leads nicely, easy to trailer (load/unload), good with mares, geldings, foals, cows, goats, sheep, dogs, 4-wheelers, tractors, vehicles, etc. CON: Can be somewhat stubborn to catch when out on large pasture, but when collected and haltered, he’s perfect. Sometimes sensitive to fly bites. He can sit, be saddled and rode anytime, without round pen work, etc. No buck, bite, or rear- NEVER MEAN, just a little rusty. On trails, an intermediate rider would be recommended until he’s conditioned- Other than some mild arthritis (due to age) in his left front, he is a healthy and strong horse. No supplemental medication has ever been prescribed or given. All vaccinations are up to date, including dental, and recent shoes all around. Diet consists of cubes twice daily but he will eat anything and keep his weight nicely. Easy keeper. With a little conditioning, he would continue to be an amazing leisure trail horse for years to come. He enjoys being on the go: trails, beach, camping, etc. (doesn’t mind arena work, but it isn’t his favorite), however, he’s also content just hanging out with his animal friends. For the past 10 years, he’s resided on 12 acres with 4 equine and 11 goats- being boarded in a stall/barn probably wouldn’t be a good fit. Location that includes “availability” to a shelter during inclement weather is important. We’re picky to where he goes and requesting buy back option. Vet checks welcome (at buyers expense).
