About this horse

$9,500 USD Disciplines: 4H, Beginner-Safe, Family-Safe, Husband-Safe, No Vices, Ranch Trail Class, Trail Riding, Western, Western Pleasure, Western Riding Chuck may be built like a tank, but he has the personality of a golden retriever. He is a handsome 15-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse gelding standing 14.3 hands, with a stocky build, substantial bone, solid hooves, and a rich sorrel coat. Chuck is only offered because of the unexpected passing of our father. He was one of my Dad’s personal favorites and is a horse we would never sell if circumstances were different. Finding him a wonderful, lasting home matters tremendously to us. Chuck is usually one of the first horses waiting at the gate. He is exceptionally easy to catch... occasionally almost too easy when you are trying to get another horse...because he genuinely loves people and attention. It is not unusual for him to follow you around the pasture like a dog. For at least five years, Chuck has been part of a children’s summer camp program. Many children have taken their first riding lesson on him and have caught, led, groomed, handled his feet, and ridden him independently. He is patient and forgiving of a beginner’s imperfect cues, yet willing and responsive enough to be fun for a more experienced rider. Chuck is the kind of horse an entire family can enjoy. He can patiently carry a child, give Mom a smooth ride, and has the substance to comfortably carry Dad. We know how hard it is to find another horse like him. He's been ridden Western, Chuck willingly walks, jogs, and lopes, picks up both leads, and has smooth, comfortable gaits. He rides in the arena, willingly rides out alone, and is comfortable in a group. His trail experience includes steep hills, rocky footing, bridges, water, brush, woods, open fields, roads and traffic, wildlife, dogs, bicycles, vehicles, machinery, and obstacles. He has even been ridden across the historic battlefields at Gettysburg National Military Park. Chuck has open-show experience and has won trail classes. With his camp background, trail experience, and dependable nature, we believe he could make a phenomenal 4-H horse for the right child and family. He could return to local shows or ranch-style events—or simply be treasured as the seasoned family and trail horse he already is. Chuck handles seasonal time off well. He ties, stands for mounting, bathes, accepts fly spray, picks up all four feet, behaves well for the farrier, and loads and hauls well. His teeth were floated in August 2026. He has no known vices, health concerns, or special maintenance requirements. In all our years with Chuck, we honestly cannot think of a time when he was a problem. He has always been kind, willing, and dependable. I’ve run out of space, but certainly not things to say about Chuck! There is so much more I’d love to share, so please reach out and I’ll happily share part two, along with more information and videos.
