Temperament & Management
The Old Soul
Measured, forgiving, and built for teaching. This horse has processed enough chaos to stop being bothered by most of it. Won't set the ring on fire, but won't let you fall on your face either. Gives back exactly what you put in - with a little grace on top.
About this horse
$18,000 USD Disciplines: Competitive Trail Riding, English, Husband-Safe, Mountain Trail, Mounted Patrol, Trail Class Competition, Trail Riding, Western Riding, Youth Chip is a tall, dark and handsome five-year-old 16.1 hand draft/quarter horse cross gelding. This is extremely good, natured, smooth, traveling, and gentle gelding that rides both English and western. He rides like a smaller horse with the stout Draft build. In the ring Chip is soft in the face and moves off your hand and leg cues with ease. He has a comfortable jog and he will lope out on cue. He has a good stop; side passes well and backs with ease. Chip is a solid citizen to ride out anywhere. He is settled and relaxed riding around or busy neighborhood streets with all that we encounter. From the usual dogs that charge up and bark at us to all kinds of vehicles that pass by us at speeds that well exceed the speed limit. He doesn’t give a second look at the odd things people put out on the curb or the mini farm animals with their pigs, goats, ducks, chickens and geese that we frequently ride past. Chip is equally outstanding to ride out on our mountain trails. He has a good paced walk and is content in any position of a group of horses, as well as riding him out on his own. Crosses small creeks, the river and downed timber with confidence and he navigates steep rocky terrain with precision and coordination. Chip is a get along kind of guy turned out with other horses and is also fine being in a box stall or in a pen by himself. Stands tied quietly, is good for the Ferrier, to groom, tack up and mount. Goes barefoot or shod. He’s equally good to bathe, load and haul. Being that Chip is a crossbred gelding with larger bone and feet we feel it’s a sure bet that he will remain sound throughout his entire life. 100% in every way of being safe, sane and sound.
