About this horse

Disciplines: Competitive Trail Riding, Draft, Dressage, Jumping, Ranch Versatility, Sporthorse, Trail Riding, Working Equitation For all you ladies out there that have been dreaming of that rugged man to take home, meet Brodie. He's a seven year old draft cross gelding, standing 16.2hh. He's seen the world from different lenses and has tried his hand as a pick up horse in the rodeo arena, riding drill team, working around cattle, and going down the trail. Brodie has spent his time as the rough cut country boy type, but he's ready to trade in his Coors Light for the gentleman's life. Brodie may be a draft cross, but despite the stereo type of most big, clunky horses, this guy is an athlete. He's got a naturally long stride with a big range of motion and is very capable for more technical exercises like loping small circles and changing leads. He hasn't focused most of his career on those exercises, so they need a little polish, but they are there and he wants it. Brodie is in tune to the riders seat and loves looking for that quiet connection to sink into and figure out things like lateral work and various maneuvers. He's solid w/t/c and is just looking for the right human to show him how to channel his skills. He can ride in one hand or two, snaffle or curb. He is happy to cruise down the trail, has lots of haul out experience, and loves water. He has started carrying flags, and has handled being jostled around in the chaos at drill practice. Brodie's solid resume also includes current 90+ days tune up training. The ideal match for Brodie would be a rider with an established seat that could continue finessing Brodie's movement. He would like a partner with some feel that is comfortable riding a longer strided mount. He does not want to be a beginners horse or a kids horse at this stage of his life. He would be a really cool horse for various english disciplines and did have his early start in life doing some dressage basics. He is happy out on the ranch working cattle, he could be a cool ranch versatility type... there are so many options for this big, strapping dude! Brodie is currently half shod and stands tied for the farrier to work on him. He stands tied no problem, and is generally good to clip (he is not impressed with clippers on his ears). He's good for bathing, loads in the trailer no problem, but may paw in the trailer. He is current on vaccinations, but was a little suspicious of a funny smelling doctor coming at him with a needle. He does well out with other horses and has been in a stall. At this time, he does best lunging before work when stalled, so that he is a focused gentleman by the time you hop on. He doesn't have to be lunged, but it does make work more streamline if he is. If you've been looking for a large hunk of man with fabulous blond hair to bring home with you, reach out, Brodie might be that guy!
