About this horse

$5,000 Missouri Fox Trotter (grade) ~12 years old ~14hh Shasta is not going to be a good fit for a beginner (reason listed below). Shasta has been around kids, dogs, cats, other horses, and I've personally hauled her several hours away and ridden her in a clinic. She has handled all of those things like a champ. I haven't ridden her on a trail, but I have no doubt that she would do great. Her previous owners said they had trail ridden with her and she did good. ... ( read more ) Also...she's beautiful! She does gait like a Fox Trotter should. Smooth walk, shuffling trot, and rocking horse canter all included. Since no horse is perfect...here's her downside. She can have a mind of her own and needs someone to have boundaries with her while they're riding. She's never offered to buck or anything dangerous like that, but if she wants to go to the gate she can be pretty determined to get there until she realizes you won't let her. Like a lot of gaited horses, she also likes a faster pace. I bought her for my lesson program, but due to the above things, she's just not working out as I need her to for my true beginners. I think she would be great for someone with a little more experience who wants a horse to love on and be able to ride whenever they want. I just don’t have the time for her that she deserves. Located in Ozark, MO. Feel free to come meet her and see if she's a good fit for you or your family!
