About this horse

$3,000 USD Disciplines: 4H, All-Around Show, Barefoot Hoofcare, Beginner-Safe, Cross-Country, English, Family-Safe, Jumping, Kid-Friendly, Lesson Meet Maizie — the fugliest pony ever! Someone was playing a bad joke when they registered this purebred Arabian/Welsh — built wrong in every way: U-neck, stick legs, pancake hooves, and on a redheaded mare to boot. Yup, all packaged up in 13.2 hands. And though she has an underbite to compete with any bulldog, her belly is about twice as big around as her length, which also requires a crupper to keep the saddle on 😉 Now, with all that said, this little mare has been a total kids’ favorite, and her registered name says it all: “Be Mine Clementine.” This is truly a sweet kids’ pony who prefers kids! The kids broke her out, tried and true through many kids’ camps, and she’s now competing in her second season of IEA. This little saint carried six different kids into the ribbons two days in a row just last weekend's show 😇 Maizie, as we call her, has very clean legs and no injuries — because she’s so smart, she stays out of trouble. She’s an excellent, solid, barefoot pony, great for the farrier, with the perfect amount of “whoa” but needs a crop for more “go.” She’s safe walk/trot/canter, likes to be balanced so she usually always gets the correct lead, and jumps crossrails like it’s no big deal. Not much phases her. Some days, she would prefer the kids to bridle her over an adult — this is truly a kids’ pony. She lives in pasture, is an easy keeper, and easy to catch. She can also live in a stall happily. She has no vices, other than she’ll somehow magically work her way to alpha in every pack — ponies or horses, mares or geldings — but she does it quite kindly. The whole herd gives her respect to the point of protecting her, and she has even been the leader of our blind horse. So, she has a soft spot for the meek. At this point, we have more ponies than we have little riders, and we’d love to find this one her very own person — or possibly another lesson program that needs a new saint. We do love this pony dearly, so she will only go to approved homes that are deemed the right fit. I’ve got the Top Spec Kids holding me hostage to that. So come meet your new Sweetheart with Sass! Oh and she’s only 5 years old 🦄 Located in Portland, OR
