About this horse

I would like to start off by saying that this is not an easy add to make. I have a 3yo draft cross gelding I am considering selling. He came here late August early September from Stroud OK. He (Sunny) is branded with a KH brand which registers to Hampton Pro Rodeo. I was able to make contact with them after many months of trying, They stated he was foaled in October of 22 and then sold to be broke as a riding horse. Between now and then he has been sold at auction and ended up in a kill pen with 4 other horses. ... ( read more ) He and another horse were the only two remaining and the night before he was supposed to ship I received a message asking if I would be willing to Quarantine Sunny and another horse. Given the short time frame I then agreed. To keep this add from being longer than it needs to be I will stop there but those who are interested are welcome to reach out for additional info on how that situation played out. With that being said, to avoid him ending back at auction or back where he started I will be picky. I do not have to sell him, however the difference in the amount of time he needs VS the amount of time I have right now is significant. He is considered Unhandled, he is not halter broke. After months of sitting with him and spending time with him I am just now able to touch his face for more than a second. I have introduced the halter and on occasion almost been able to halter him but we just are not there yet. THIS HORSE WAS EXTREMLY SHUT DOWN. Between getting him here in late August and early November he had been evaluated by 4 different trainers, however again he was not in a good place mentally for a while. He is in much better shape now and doing much better, he has put on a significant amount of weight, been on turn out with another gelding and has made good strides as far as progress given the amount of time I've had to put into him. This horse needs someone with time, and a lot of it. He would make anyone a great riding horse and I firmly believe that. I would prefer that he go to a trainer or to a home with someone that intends on training him. I work full-time and start back up at college in just a couple of months. I have other horses, and other animals as well so again my time is limited. I have an OTTB gelding that is going to a trainer in a couple of months (which has been turned out with Sunny), while we get stalls built and additional fencing put in. While I would love to send them both to a trainer it is just not in the budget at the moment. We moved here not long ago and we have had tear down, rebuild, and add on to this place and that in itself is an expensive project. With all of that being said if you are interested In Sunny please feel free to reach out. Again I do not WANT to sell him nor do I have to however as of right now the only thing in mind is what is in the best interest for this horse.
