Apache
About this horse
$9,300 Skills: Athletic, Flashy, Playday, Ridden English, Ridden Western, Trail, Trail Riding, Trained, Western Riding, Youth Apache is an 11 year-old, Tri-colored Paint Quarter Horse gelding. He stands at about 14.2 hands, and as you can see from the video on our website, he's absolutely a blast to ride. He'll canter carrying saddle bags without bucking. I've taken him offsite to ride in the mountains of NC and Tennessee on 3 occasions. He and my daughter's horse stayed tied all night to the horse trailer that we were camping in for 3 days without pawing or yanking on the rope to keep us awake. ... He's calm, gentle, and affectionate; he'll greet you at the gate if you go to his pasture. He's ideal for a teen or adult with a little riding experience so you can enjoy the thrill when he smoothly goes from a walk straight into a lope when you start up a hill on the trails. He'll cross anything - high bridges over noisy mountainous rivers, land bridges, through moving rivers and streams, mud, railroad tracks, or anything else you can think of. I've owned Apache about 2 years during which time he has been used to guide rides and is especially useful for the private walk/trot/canter rides. He's a great size and disposition for teens or anyone who's a little 'vertically challenged'. In other words, he's every bit a horse while being easy to get on and off without having to use a step stool or mounting block. Apache loads like a dream, so you'll never waste hours of riding time trying to get your horse to load into your trailer. You can see him load in under 7 seconds on our website. He hauls quietly and doesn't try to tear your trailer up. You can lead rides on Apache or you can just follow along or ride in the middle of the pack. He's really easy going in that respect. You don't have to constantly kick him to keep him going nor do you have to keep pulling back on him to keep him off the horse's butt in front of you. He'll even ride alone. Watch him cross this bridge alone then cross the river itself - all by his lonesome. I really enjoy riding him. He's so willing and relaxed, you can't help but appreciate him. See the video of him crossing a river in the mountains without a care while I'm videoing the horse and rider in front of us with no hands on the reins! He's a confident trail horse, and he instills that same level of confidence in his rider. Apache's easy to bridle, saddle, and picks up all 4 feet easily. He's absolutely drama free. People always ask why we're selling our horses. There's nothing wrong with them. Quite the contrary. They're for sale because it's part of our business model: we buy, train, put lots of trail hours on them, and make them safe for beginners, and eventually we sell them at a profit to compensate us for all the training and trail hours we have put on them. We don't have to speculate as to what age or riding level a rider needs to be at in order to ride them. We KNOW because they've done it many times over. If we say a 6 year-old child with no riding experience can ride the horse, then they can - and have. And if we say we wouldn't put anyone younger than an inexperienced 10 year-old, then you shouldn't consider the horse for your 5 year-old to ride on their own.
