I’m sure I’ve left somethings out but please don’t hesitate to ask. I know this horse inside and out. I adopted Freedom at the end of her 4 yr old year from the BLM Online Corral. She is from the Goshute HMA in Nevada. She has had a friendly personality from the get go, no stranger danger for her. Freedom loves people and scratches. If you’re out in the pasture and she’s near by, she’ll sidepass over or back up to you for a booty scratch. ... ( read more ) She’s been one of the easiest to train. She was started under saddle as a 5 year old by my apprentice, Hannah Bixler, with absolutely no buck whatsoever. I then sent her to a cutting horse trainer in OK, Levi Price where she spent about 60 days. He tracked cattle on her several times a week. She’s not much of an arena horse but she will tolerate riding in there. She loves to be trail ridden and loves to move cattle. She has a natural instinct to track a cow. We don’t get to do that often enough though. Freedom has been shown in Walk-Trot at the local saddle club where we won 3rd place for the year of 2024. She’s been trail ridden many miles, been on many adventures including hauling to Nebraska to move cattle to new pastures. She absolutely was in her element. I have ponied training horses off of her and gentled other mustangs. We have swam in the lake together, however she’s not too fond of that. I think the little fish nibbling at her legs makes her a little nervous. lol. I’ve ridden her in the snow and in the dark. She is sure footed and my go to when riding on slick trails after a rain. Freedom can go long periods of time without being ridden and still be the same horse next time you get on. Just saddle up and go type. Her gaits are very smooth. She has about 3 different speeds of trots, all so smooth I never have to post. Good ground covering trot. She will lope but I haven’t loped her that much. Friends have ridden her and say her lope is like a rocking chair. On the trails, she will lead, ride in the middle or follow. She is very easy to catch but can be hard to catch the more she’s ridden but she is food motivated. I have a swung a rope on her and drug a mounting block in sand. She wasn’t fond of it but she did it for me and helped boost her confidence. I will say she did not get the fast gene that most mustangs have. She is fat, lazy and slow. I like to call her a mini draft. She stands still for mounting whether it be from the ground, mounting block, a picnic table or the side of a trailer. Freedom will stand tied, stands like a statue for the farrier and never had shoes, she bathes, loads easily on the trailer and backs off (sometimes she gets in a hurry backing off but I will load her back up and make her back off right when she does), hobble broke, UTD on vaccinations, coggins, deworming, farrier. She is low on the totem pole in a herd. More of a follower and not a leader. I have never seen her in heat. I have tons of pictures and videos. Cons: she’s quirky about certain noises..ex. barrels, wheelbarrows and sticks breaking. She has never ran off or bolted, just a knee buckle. I’d recommend intermediate rider and up. The only reason I’m selling her is because: she’s not getting ridden that much and I’d like her to go to a home where she can be enjoyed instead of sitting.
