About this horse

SOLD Skills: Cross, Draft, Dressage, Driving, Equitation, Field Hunter, Harness, Parade, Pleasure Driving, Ridden English, Ridden Western, Sporthorse, Trail, Trail Riding Penelope is a very sweet and well mannered 4 year old mare by the Clydesdale stallion Major Tyson and out of a Clyde/Canadian Sport Horse mare, making her 3/4 Clydesdale. Major Tyson is known for passing on not only his athleticism but his amazing temperament, which Penelope certainly inherited! She was imported from Canada early last winter and was started under saddle and in harness this spring, and she has been wonderfully quiet and willing about everything that’s been asked of her. Penelope has been in light work and is going solidly walk trot under saddle, and although she’s green in the canter she is developing more strength in it every ride. She’s brave in new environments and is a very steady trail horse, and she is definitely “more whoa than go.” Penelope is also a good driving horse; she was even part of a pair that pulled a wagon in a local July 4th parade! We could see Penelope excelling in a number of disciplines, but we think she will be especially well suited to fox hunting or similar pursuits. She is currently shod up front in a size 5. Penelope has good ground manners and is easy to catch, tack, blanket, bathe, fly spray, etc. She can be turned out individually or in a group, and she’s fine staying out all the time or coming into a stall. Penelope’s temperament makes her an excellent project for someone wanting to bring along their first young horse! Her price will increase with more training.
