About this horse

$800 Northeast Ohio: We unfortunately have to sell our horse. He’s a good boy but he needs way more work than I am experienced enough in terms of training and I don’t feel it’s fair to him. He has been very well cared for since I’ve had him. ... ( read more ) Regular farrier visits every 6-8 weeks, wears front shoes. He needs to grow a little on the bottom of his feet, but the farrier has said they’re not bad. He will need sedated to get in to a trailer and it MUST be a double wide. He does NOT get in to a single, coming to me he got very injured (cuts, no broken bones, he had X-rays done) trying to get in to a single. It is not an option. He can be ridden but he needs to learn how to stand at the mounting block and he needs a very confident rider who can help him if he spooks and can direct him. I have tried multiple times recently and he seems to spook and then has trouble getting back under control. His issue is more confidence than he doesn’t want to be ridden, he just seems to get scared and then wants to bolt. He does have a large left front fetlock from his racing days, it had x rays done. It has calcified and does not seem to bother him in the slightest. He was jumping, cantering, everything with no issue. He was getting bullied when he was around other horses regarding food, but as the only horse he has put on weight and is very healthy. Meet Pedro! This handsome 16hh bay gelding came to us in September where he had been passed around by several other owners before us. Unfortunately, he was not a good fit for us, thus why we sadly have to rehome him. Pedro was an OTTB, and he never got the proper training to help him to his full potential. He can jump, but he needs a confident and experienced rider to help him learn his ground work and manners. He can be a bit of a sassy boy and likes to move fast. He struggles with listening to rider signals and will need a sturdy rider who is able to become the boss of him. The highest he has jumped with us is 2’9. Pedro is around 1300-1400 lbs, and stands for the vet and farrier. He can get touchy with currying and his back feet being picked so he will need someone confident and willing to work with him on ground manners surrounding grooming. He bathes fine and is very easy to clean. We have tried to start teaching him how to lunge as he’s never been taught prior, and he is slowly picking it up. He would do best at a barn for a rider with a trainer who is willing to devote time into him and his quirks.
