About this horse

$9,800 Skills: Beginner, Cross, Finished, Husband Safe, Kid Safe, Lesson, Playday, Ridden English, Ridden Western, School, Trail, Trail Riding, Western Riding, Youth Copper is a 12 year-old, 15 hand, sorrel Suffolk Punch x Quarter Horse gelding. He's at the absolute perfect age to teach new riders or to take riders who've lost their confidence on less reliable horses. He's a chunky monkey - an easy keeper. I've had the pleasure of owning him for the past 2 years. During that time, Copper has been trail ridden extensively by adults and kids as young as 6 years old and up. Our camp kids squabbled over who would get to ride Copper this past summer. He is a trail horse deluxe: unflappable on the trails and has done some arena work. He can be ridden English, Western, or bareback. Most of the photos were taken in December, so he looks like a furry teddy bear, but he has an amazingly beautiful, full mane, tail, and forelock and gorgeous, kind, expressive eyes. You could even say he's sexy (if a horse could be called that). If you like to load up and ride away from the farm on an organized ride, at a State Park, or National Forest, you'll be happy to know that Copper loads like a dream. See the video on our website of him loading into a horse trailer in just 11 seconds! He travels quiet - no pawing the sides of your trailer or rocking it and causing it to fishtail as you go down the highway. He travels like a professional. If you like to lead a group of riders, Copper will lead at a nice pace, but he'll also ride in the middle, or bring up the rear as seen in the video on our website. He doesn't fight against the bit to get to the front or ride the rump of the horse in front of him. He's totally relaxed in any position that you'd like to ride amongst a group of horses. Copper is a true gentleman in every sense of the word both on the ground and in the saddle. See the video on our website to witness that he stands still for mounting and dismounting. He's very easy to 'catch' when he's out in the pasture. In fact, he comes to you when you enter his pasture. When you meet Copper, you'll see right away that he loves attention and enjoys your company. So if you want a horse that you can bond with, look no further. Copper's your guy. People always ask why we're selling our horses. There's nothing wrong with them. Quite the contrary. They're for sale because it's part of our business model: we buy, train, put lots of trail hours on them, and make them safe for beginners, and eventually we sell them at a profit to compensate us for all the training and trail hours we have put on them. We don't have to speculate as to what age or riding level a rider needs to be at in order to ride them. We KNOW because they've done it many times over. If we say a 6 year-old child with no riding experience can ride the horse, then they can - and have. And if we say we wouldn't put anyone younger than an inexperienced 10 year-old, then you shouldn't consider the horse for your 5 year-old to ride on their own. All our horses sell as sound with no vices. To see all of our horses for sale, schedule time to come see them at Dead Broke Farm. Prices listed are firm.
