About this horse

$4,000 USD FIRM Disciplines: Barefoot Hoofcare, Broodmare, Liberty Training, Light Riding, Western Riding Red Dun QH Mare – Gentle, Loving Companion & Light Trail Prospect – 15hh, Est. 16yo Meet this beautiful red dun Quarter Horse mare, Dakota, estimated 16 years old, and 15hh. Her warm reddish-dun coat has copper tones, dark brown points, a prominent dorsal stripe, and those subtle primitive markings that make red duns so striking. * Gentle and willing, a true sweetheart who loves her person and gets along great in the herd or one-on-one * Proven broodmare, has had at least one foal and successfully fostered/raised another, calm and maternal * Barefoot and an easy keeper, hardy, low-maintenance, thrives on basic pasture and hay * Sound for light work, old back leg injury, but fully pasture-sound and trail-sound; she carried a foal to term post-injury. Very light foot slap at the walk only (subtle, no tripping or issues), disappears at trot/canter. No pain, heat, or mobility limits, vet records happy to share. * Hasn't been ridden in over a year (owner's illness), but was ridden a little bit bareback and bitless, very soft and responsive. She had more buttons than her owner (smart, sensitive, and tuned-in), so she may need a short refresher to rebuild confidence and routine with the right person. No bad habits, just needs consistency to shine again. * Loving and cuddly once trust is built, she can be shy, she bonds deeply, seeks scratches, closeness, and becomes very affectionate with her person * Ideal as a relaxed trail horse for light/occasional rides or as an outstanding companion mare for gentle work, or simply being a cherished buddy. Not suited for competition, heavy use, or busy programs, she's ready for a peaceful, pampered life with someone who appreciates her smarts and softness. Seeking a forever home with an intermediate+ rider/owner who values her kind heart, understands her history/minor quirk, and can offer patience to let her loving side fully emerge. Perfect for someone riding for enjoyment (not performance) or wanting a calm, cuddly companion who responds well to kind leadership. Located in Grant, FL. Asking in the low to mid $4,000s (open to negotiation for the right loving, understanding home, price reflects her age, time off, and full disclosure). Serious, home-focused inquiries only, no competitors or high intensity expectations. Photos, videos (in-hand movement, relaxed ground manners, her gorgeous red dun color), and vet info available to qualified buyers. A great home is priority #1!
