(read more ) He’s broke broke, the kind that lopes around with a gorgeous, rhythmic cadence, stays soft in his face and sides, and rides with total ease and feel. He’s got cute, slow spins, a deep, correct stop, and can long trot right alongside the best of the ranch riders. But my very favorite thing about Koozie is his heart. It’s huge, kind, and steady—he wants to please every single ride. He doesn’t have a lazy bone in his body, yet he’s not a forward or rushy type either. He’s that perfect blend of willing and relaxed…exactly how we like them. Add in the fact that he’s flat-out gorgeous with a luxurious mane and tail, and he turns heads everywhere he goes. Koozie has been part of our family for several years and has earned his place as one of the most dependable partners we’ve ever owned. Our kids have used him for early morning gatherings, sorting jobs, branding calves, and riding out with Dad to check cattle. He’s had a real job, just like a big horse—and it shows in everything he does. His manners are those iconic, old-school ranch-horse manners: respectful, honest, and ready to go to work. His work ethic is unmatched. He crosses water with ease and is sure-footed in steep, rocky country—never hesitating, never rushing, always careful and confident. He’s also completely safe around traffic, dogs, and unexpected wildlife. Nothing ever seems to ruffle him; he simply carries on with that steady, dependable nature he’s known for. He’s the same honest pony no matter what—even after time off. We’ve given Koozie up to two months off during the winter, and he saddles right back up just as broke, gentle, and reliable as ever. Our kids have also taught Koozie some fun tricks—he can smile on cue and curbside mount, happily side-passing over to whatever rock, fence, or mounting block they point him toward. He rides bareback, double, or even bridleless with total ease, always staying gentle, tuned-in, and trustworthy. On top of all that, our 8-year-old daughter Saylor has taught Koozie to go English over small jumps and trot poles, and she has even used him to proudly carry the flag. And when it comes to rodeos, Koozie is a total rockstar—our littlest boy, 4-year-old Townes, has hauled him to junior rodeos to run barrels, poles, goats, and even help push calves. Koozie takes care of him every step of the way, giving Townes the confidence to try it all with a big smile on his face. This is a pony anyone would be proud to own—one that will teach your children what it’s like to ride a truly broke one. Safe, seasoned, stylish, and cool as they come… Simply put, Koozie is just plain cool.
